Digital Business Card vs paper business card — what's actually different?

A paper business card is static. Once it's printed, the phone number on it is the phone number on it. If you change jobs, move offices or get a new email, every card in someone's wallet or drawer is now wrong. A Digital Business Card lives at a URL you control — you update the details once and everyone with the link sees the new information immediately, even if they saved the link a year ago.

What's the difference between a Digital Business Card and a vCard QR code?

They're for different situations and work best together.

A vCard QR code is designed for scanning — someone points their camera at a QR code (on a badge, poster or product), the OS recognises the vCard format, and offers to add the contact directly to their phone's address book. The QR code is the whole interaction; there's no URL involved.

The person who taps it sees a page in their browser, then taps what they need: call, WhatsApp, email, directions. Nothing downloads to their phone unless they want it to.

Is a Digital Business Card actually free?

Yes — creating a card is included on the free plan, with no time limit and no credit card required to start. The card URL stays live as long as your account is active. There's no per-month cost for the card itself, and no "upgrade to make it publicly visible" gate.

Does this work for small businesses and freelancers in India?

Yes, and it's one of the more practical use cases. Sharing a WhatsApp link, a phone number and a location in one tap is more reliable than hoping someone will correctly scan a QR code or type a long URL. A Digital Business Card link works anywhere people share links — in a WhatsApp group, a Google Business profile, a JustDial listing, or in the bio of an Instagram account.

The "Get Directions" button opens Google Maps, which works across Android and iOS. The WhatsApp button dials your number directly, including the country code, so there's no friction if the person viewing your card is using a different country code.

Can I use this with an NFC business card?

Yes. NFC business cards (the kind you tap to a phone) encode a URL — most commonly the card manufacturer's own profile URL. You can point that NFC URL to your Linkly Digital Business Card link instead, or to a short link that redirects there. If you ever switch tools, you update the redirect destination rather than reprinting or re-encoding the NFC chip.
